That’s why we collaborate with DripDrop, an innovative Danish initiative that transforms sustainable thinking into practical hotel solutions.
Through DripDrop our guests can borrow or rent umbrellas in the lobby. And what you don’t see: every umbrella contributes to reforestation.
Circular production with rPET
The umbrellas are made of rPET, which is recycled PET-plastic derived from plastic bottles.
For each umbrella five plastic bottles are reused. With this we reduce the demand for new plastic, save CO₂ emissions and give waste a second life.
One umbrella = one tree
With every rental or borrowing, DripDrop works together with the Eden Reforestation Projects to plant one tree. Since the start in August 2020, already over 958,000 trees have been planted this way, and the goal is to reach 3 million trees.
In 2024, an average of 569 trees per day were planted worldwide thanks to this initiative.
Less waste, more reuse
By choosing the DripDrop model we prevent the use of cheap disposable umbrellas that quickly break or are left behind. Through this sharing and return-system we reduce plastic waste and encourage long-term use.More than just an umbrella
Besides sustainability, DripDrop delivers social impact. The umbrellas are managed locally or centrally with automated kiosks, and in case of non-return systems are used to maintain the circular model.
In our hotel practice
At Four Elements Hotel we offer these umbrellas in the lobby via a simple “tap-and-grab” system. Guests can easily borrow an umbrella, and at the same time contribute to reforestation without extra effort. We also receive from DripDrop impact reports with statistics on number of rentals and trees planted, allowing us to communicate consciously about the joint benefit for people and the planet.
