In our restaurant we serve guests drinks in beautiful glasses made from old wine bottles. These unique glasses are made by Rebottled, a Dutch company committed to circular design and social inclusion.
Rebottled is dedicated to giving new life to the enormous stream of discarded wine bottles, in the Netherlands about 440 million bottles every year.
In their workshop in Utrecht, empty bottles are collected, carefully cleaned, cut and polished into high-quality drinking glasses.
With each glass, up to 98% less water is used and CO₂ emissions are drastically reduced because no energy-intensive melting process is needed, unlike traditional glass recycling, which on average is 40% less energy-efficient than upcycling via Rebottled.
What makes this process even more special is the social value. Rebottled works closely with social employment organizations, including the Salvation Army, offering people with a distance to the labor market meaningful work. In this way they actually make real impact for both people and planet.
Why Rebottled fits with us
At Four Elements Hotel Amsterdam, sustainable hospitality is about a well-considered experience, from architecture to tableware. The glasses from Rebottled tell exactly that story:
• Every sip from a glass brings something, not takes away.
• 100% upcycled, locally produced in the Netherlands.
• Functional design with a circular origin.
• Positive social impact through employment and inclusion.
When you choose a drink with us, you choose a piece of circular craftsmanship. A glass that doesn’t just hold a drink but also meaning.
